On 15 December, the launch ceremony of the sponsorship and donation of "National Security Education Picture Book" for Hong Kong Kindergartens, co-organized by the Friendship Association of CR Cement and the Association of Hong Kong Kindergarten Education Professional Exchange, was successfully held at C.C.C. Heep Woh Primary School. The Deputy Director-General of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Chen Zhilu, members of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, Hon Yung Hoi-yan, Dr Hon Junius Ho Kwan-yiu, JP and Hon Lillian Kwok Ling-lai, as well as the Chairman of the Youth Committee of the Hong Kong Chinses Enterprise Association, Mr. Kwok Tuen Cheung, the Chairman of the Association of Hong Kong Kindergarten Education Professional Exchange, Mrs Betty Ip-Tsang Chui-hing, the Deputy Director of the Youth Affairs Department of China Resources Group, Mr. Liu Yipeng, the General Manager of Hong Kong Business Division of CR Cement, Ms. Lam Hung, the Vice President of the Friendship Association of CR Cement, Mr. Xing Tao and Director-General, Ms. Wang Meng Li, together with 230 principals and teachers from kindergartens across Hong Kong attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Deputy Director Liu Yipeng represented CR Cement to donate 1000 copies of "National Security Education Picture Book" to the representative of kindergarten principals. The Association of Hong Kong Kindergarten Education Professional Exchange issued the Certificate of Appreciation to CR Cement.
Dr Hon Junius Ho Kwan-yiu, JP expressed his gratitude to the charitable deeds of CR Cement. He mentioned that Article 9 and Article 10 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region had stated that the Government would strengthen the promotion of national security education in schools through social organizations, the media, the internet and other means. He said that Hong Kong Government had invested a lot of capital in education every year, aiming to cultivate students with logic and global vision. He praised CR Cement for showing its responsibility as a central enterprise stationing in Hong Kong with practical actions by sponsoring the publication of picture books and donating them to kindergartens in Hong Kong.
General Manager Lam Hung said that since its establishment 19 years ago, CR Cement had insisted on creating corporate value while focusing on various public welfare activities such as eldercare, poverty alleviation and education support, community service, youth development and anti-epidemic assistance so as to uphold the principle of "giving back to society in accordance with what we have earned". She hoped that through this donation, Hong Kong could cultivate a new generation who love the country and Hong Kong, and fully recognize their national identity and sincerely love and care about our homeland.
Chairman Betty Ip expressed her thankfulness to CR Cement for its loving act and praised this donation as a practice of the Chinese proverb of "imparting knowledge is the best charity". She mentioned that the donation can allow more kindergartens to acquire educational patriotic picture books in the first place and let children to learn more about Chinese culture from simple stories so as to strengthen their national identity and national pride.
There are three volumes of "National Security Education Picture Book" for Hong Kong Kindergartens, which their publication is sponsored by CR Cement. The picture book introduces China, national anthem and national flag, national glory and national security in the form of comics. It emphasizes the importance and responsibility of jointly safeguarding the national security. It is of great significance to the promotion of patriotic education in kindergartens in Hong Kong, as well as the promotion of innovative educational content and forms.
